History
U-Flotilla "Hundius"* was founded on 1 Oct 1938 under the command of Korvkpt. Werner Hartmann and existed until December of 1939. The Flotilla was re-founded as the 6th Flotilla in July 1941 at Danzig. During the first months it was a training-flotilla, but when it moved in February 1942 to St. Nazaire (France) it became a combat flotilla. When in August 1944 the last boats left the base for Norway, its history ended in August 1944 by disbandment.
* Kptlt.Paul Hundius was in WWI commander of UB-16, UC-47 and UB-103. He sank on 20 patrols 67 ships with a total of 95,280 tons. He died on 16 Sept 1918 when his UB-57 was sunk by depth charges from British steamer Young Crow.
