Attacks on this boat and other events

29 Jan 1944
The boat was seriously damaged by a very determined attack from a B-24 Liberator (USN VB/100, H.H. Budd). The aircraft was also damaged, but the U-boat dived and escaped. After radioing in this encounter in, U-592 was hunted down by F. J. 'Johnny' Walker's famous Support Group 2 using Enigma intelligence, and sunk on January 31. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 488)

1 recorded attack on this boat.

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-592 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
