Attacks on this boat and other events

British Catalina flying boat EP215 (RAF Sqdn 190, pilot F/Lt F. Gosling) located the boat and dropped four bombs. Damage was severe and U-229 was forced to return to base.

1 recorded attack on this boat.

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-229 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
