Missing in the Bay of Biscay since 31 January 1943. There is no explanation for its loss. 50 dead (all hands lost). (FDS/NHB and Axel Niestlé, June 1996).

U-519 was posted as missing on 10 February 1943 after failing to report its passage of the Bay of Biscay.

Previously recorded fate

  • Sunk 10 Feb, 1943 southwest of Ireland, in position 47.05N, 18.34W, by depth charges from an American Liberator aircraft (US-AF Sqdn 2/T). (Postwar assessment)
    Notes. This attack was actually against the U-752 inflicting minor damage.
