- Sunk on 8 July 1943 in the North Atlantic west of Oporto, in position 40.37N, 13.41W, by depth charges from a US Liberator aircraft (2nd A/S Sqn USAAF/Q).
Notes. This attack was actually directed against U-183 inflicting no damage.

General notes on this boat
24 Feb 1943. On 24 Feb. 1943 the U-232 collided with U-649 during training in the Bay of Danzig. U-649 sank, taking 35 of her crew with her.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-232 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
