18 Jun 1944. U-1000 rescued two Norwegian airmen from a rubber dinghy in the North Sea about 50 miles west of Bergen, Norway at 0215hrs. They were from the Mosquito FB Mk.VI HP860 (333 Sqn RAF/R, pilot Lt J.M. Jacobsen) which had been on anti-submarine patrol on 16 June and was forced to ditch 13 minutes after being hit by AA fire from U-804 at 2259hrs.
