Aircraft attack, aircraft shot down:
Norwegian Mosquito FB Mk.VI HP860 (333 Sqn RAF/R, pilot Lt Jacob M. Jacobsen)
The aircraft was on anti-submarine patrol and attacked U-804 at 2259hrs west of Bergen, but was hit by AA fire and forced to ditch 13 minutes later. Eight men from U-804 were wounded in the action. The two aircrew were rescued by U-1000 at 0215hrs on 18 June and taken to Norway for interrogation.
2 Aug 1944
An American hunter-killer group sent to destroy U-804 found her today. U-804 sank the destroyer USS Fiske, eluded the rest of the group and continued on patrol. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 595)
9 Apr 1945
While en route from Norway to Kiel U-804 and U-1065 were attacked by Mosquitos of the RAF Banff Strike Wing under the command of Sqn. Ldr. H.H.K. Gunnis, DFC. Both boats exploded, leaving no survivors. Four aircraft were hit by flying debris, one being destroyed and the other three forced to land in Sweden.
