General notes on this boat
The boat was discovered in 1996 by a ROV at about 190m depth (ca. 580 feet). She is broken in two parts, one of about 15 meters and the second of around 40 meters in length. The wreck lies about 1000m south-east of Loten in the Boknafjord, near Stavanger, Norway.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-974 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
