Sunk on 4 March 1944 in the Barents Sea south-east of Bear Island, in position 73.05N, 26.40E, by gunfire and rockets from the British destroyer HMS Onslaught and a Swordfish aircraft (816 Sqn FAA/B) of the British escort carrier HMS Chaser. 23 dead and 30 survivors.
