30 Mar 1942
At 18.17 hrs the boat was sighted by the Soviet Gremyashchiy, which was escorting nine ships of convoy PQ 13 near Kildin Island, off Murmansk. The destroyer dropped eight small and nine large depth charges after U-43 dived, causing no damage. (Sources: Ritschel/Rohwer)

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-435 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
