Fate

Sunk on 2 September 1944 in the Norwegian Sea south-east of Jan Mayen Island, in position 69.47N, 04.10E, by rockets and depth charges from a Swordfish aircraft (825 Sqn FAA/V) of the British escort carrier HMS Vindex, the British destroyers HMS Keppel and HMS Whitehall and the British sloops HMS Mermaid and HMS Peacock. 50 dead (all hands lost).
