Attacks on U-870 during this patrol

Having attacked a small convoy of landing ships (damaging the American destroyer escort USS Fogg) the boat was attacked by a British aircraft (Sqdn 220) but escaped and also eluded two Allied hunter-killer groups. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 650)
