Attacks on this boat and other events
11 Nov 1942
While operating against the Torch landings in North Africa, damage caused by depth charges from an Allied destroyer forced the boat to withdraw to attempt running repairs. These proved inadequate and U-108 was forced to return to France. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 109)
10 Feb 1943
16.15 hrs, mid Atlantic N of the Canaries: three bombs from a British Catalina flying boat (RAF Sqdn 202/N, pilot William Ogle-Skan) based at Gibraltar caused extensive damage. Unrepairable problems with the bow torpedo tubes forced U-108 to return to base the day after. (Sources: Ritschel)
22 Apr 1943
The boat was depth charged for a "fairly long time", but continued to shadow convoy ON(S) 4. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 285)
3 recorded attacks on this boat.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-108 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
