At 18.17 hrs the boat was sighted by the Soviet Gremyashchiy, which was escorting nine ships of convoy PQ 13 near Kildin Island, off Murmansk. The destroyer dropped eight small and nine large depth charges after U-43 dived, causing no damage. (Sources: Ritschel/Rohwer)
