Attacks on U-62 during this patrol
29 Jul 1940
British submarine HMS Sealion (Lt Cdr Ben Bryant) sighted U-62 as the latter was returning from patrol on the surface. Sealion launched three torpedoes, but the Germans had seen her periscope and avoided the salvo. Sealion then surfaced and engaged with her deck gun. U-62 dived and eluded the British boat with only 27 minutes worth of battery life.
