Attacks on U-100 during this patrol
22 Sep 1940
At the end of a very successful attack on convoy HX 72 in the Atlantic west of Ireland, the boat tried to hit Putney Hill with her last torpedo at 02.57 hrs, but missed, and was driven off by three rounds of shellfire from the merchantman. (Sources: Ritschel)
