Patrol off the Dutch coast to support the German invasion of the Low Countries. The boat used up its torpedoes in several unsuccessful attacks and entered Wilhelmshaven to resupply on 15 May. Sailed again the next day but a diesel engine broke down on 17 May, so the boat returned to its base in Kiel.
