Attacks on U-634 during this patrol
18 Apr 1943
09.10 hrs, Atlantic NW of Finisterre, outbound: the boat was attacked by Australian Sunderland Mk.III DV969 (10 Sqdn RAAF/E, pilot F/O E.H. Farmer). Two 250lb GP bombs were dropped on the first run, falling 30m (98ft) astern. U-634 fought off a second attack (six depth charges) with AA fire before diving with minor damage to the conning tower from strafing. The Sunderland was hit in the nose and starboard wing and two of the 12 crew were wounded by shell splinters. (Sources: Franks/Zimmerman)
