Attacks on U-801 during this patrol
16 Mar 1944
The boat was attacked by an Avenger aircraft from the escort carrier USS Block Island in mid Atlantic. One man died and nine were wounded. U-801 was sunk the following day. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 535)
