Patrol description

Patrol in the Pentland Firth. On 30 May, the boat had to return due to a diesel engine defect. On 4 June, the small bomb at the end of a sounding line exploded on the bridge just before it was thrown overboard and injured the commander Kptlt. Kentrat on both hands. The I.WO Lt. Stein took over the command. The next day, Kentrat was suffering from chills and fever and had to be transferred to the German patrol vessel V-101 west of Denmark.

The I.WO Lt. Stein took over the command of U-8 after the commander Kptlt. Kentrat had been injured in an accident and brought the boat back to port.
