A British B-24 Liberator (Sqdn 120, pilot Bryan W. Turnbull) attacked the boat and drove her under. A destroyer joined the attack but the boat escaped, although two men were wounded and one of the diesel engines was damaged. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 430)
