1940
6 Jun 1940. U-47 rescued three German airmen from a rubber dinghy in the North Sea about 100 miles south-east of Shetland Islands at 0800hrs. They were from the Dornier Do18D-3 WNr 790 (2./KüFlGr 906, 8L+LK) which was shot down in aerial combat with Blenheim R3629 (254 Sqn RAF, FltLt Mitchell) at 1620hrs on 4 June. One crewman had been killed and another wounded.
