HMS Loosestrife (Lt. H.A. Stonehouse, RNR) picks up 29 survivors from the British merchant Bristol City and 42 survivors from the British merchant Wentworth that were torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-358 in the North Atlantic, south of Cape Farewell, in position 54°00'N, 43°55'W.

German U-boat U-192 was sunk in the North Atlantic south-east of Cape Farewell in position 53°06'N, 45°02'W by depth charges from the British corvette HMS Loosestrife (Lt. H.A. Stonehouse, RNR).

German U-boat U-425 was sunk in the Barents Sea near Murmansk, Russia, in position 69°39'N, 35°50'E, by depth charges from the British sloop HMS Lark (Cdr.(Retd.) H. Lambton, RN) and the British corvette HMS Alnwick Castle (A/Lt.Cdr. H.A. Stonehouse, DSC, RNR).
