German U-boat U-528 was sunk in the North Atlantic south-west of Ireland, in position 46°55'N, 14°44'W, by depth charges from a British Handley Page Halifax aircraft (Sqdn. 58/D) and by depth charges from the British sloop HMS Fleetwood (Cdr. W.B. Piggot, OBE, RNR).
