SummaryOn August 25th, 1945, seven German POWs of the U-bootwaffe condemned for the brutal killing of another German POW named Werner Drechsler were hanged at the Ft. Leavenworth military prison. The only time foreign POWs were executed on U.S. soil, it was the last mass execution of any kind in America.
