U-boat Commands
First World War
Franz Venier joined the Austrian-Hungarian Navy 1912. He was the Third Officer on the U 4 in 1917 and in 1918 was the Second Officer on the same boat.
Second World War
He was a Watch Officer on the UD 3 from June to Nov 1941. He took command of the UD 1 on 3 Nov 1941 and commanded the until 14 Dec 1942. On 15 Dec he started U-boat familiarization for the UD 2 in preparation for his command of the boat taking place on 30 Jan 1943.
Venier Commanded the UD 2 until 1 April 1944 when he joined the U-boat Acceptance Command. He died onboard the U-2331 during a training accident on 10 Oct 1944 in the Baltic Sea.
