Notes on event | At 13.01 hours on 9 June 1942, U-432 fired four torpedoes at convoy BX-23A south of Cape Sable and damaged the Kronprinsen after 1 minute 32 seconds. Another torpedo missed its target, but damaged the Malayan Prince after 2 minutes 5 seconds. The Kronprinsen lost her stern and the deck cargo caught fire, but the vessel was towed to Pubnico Fairway and beached there to discharge the cargo. On 23 July, after temporary repairs were made, she was towed to Halifax and on 9 October to Boston, Massachusetts to be repaired. |
