Personal information
Son of Andreas and Helga Hansen, of Kvelle. He was injured in the sinking of Baghdad and remained in the Colony Hospital on Grenada until being repatriated aboard Yarmouth from Trinidad to New Orleans in November 1942. Håkon Hansen then served aboard Tamesis which sank after a collision with the US merchant Alcoa Guard on 7 March 1943 and was lost when the Norwegian motor merchant Høegh Silverdawn was sunk by the German raider Michel in the Indian Ocean on 15 June 1943.
