Husband of Ivy Wormald, of Beeston Hill, Leeds, Yorkshire. David Wormald had served in World War 1 and was a regular but had served his time. In 1938 he was asked to rejoin the Royal Navy after he came back with his family from their first holiday ever. David did so, joined the troopship Dunera to transfer her to the China Station at Shanghai and was then transferred to HMS Daring which was returning to Europe when war broke out.
