HMS Poppy (Lt. N.K. Boyd, RNR) picks up 53 survivors from the American merchant Hoosier that was damaged by German aircraft about 65 nautical miles north-east of Iokanka. The abandoned Hoosier was finally sunk by German U-boat U-376 early the next day.
