Considerable damage was done to the superstructure and a small fire was started that however went out quickly. In all 13 magazines Oerlikon and 15 pans of Vickers were emptied into the target.
0843 hours - Radar picked up an aircraft so went seaward at full speed. Two minutes later a fighter dived from the clouds 3000 yards away. Shalimar dived to 10 feet and continued seawards along the bottom. After 5 minutes of being machine gunned she reached 30 feet.
