The landing ship HMS Bruiser (Lt.Cdr. J. Stretch, RD, RNR) was also part of the convoy.

On departure from Aden the combined convoy was escorted by the light cruiser HMS Danae and the frigates HMS Derg (Lt. E.J. Binfield, DSC, RNR), HMS Teviot (Lt.Cdr. T. Taylor, DSC, RN) and HMS Trent (T/A/Lt.Cdr. J.G. Rankin, RNR).
At 0300D/9, in position 12°46'5"N, 51°12'E, the convoys split.

Convoy AKD 14A was to proceed to Durban via Kilindini / Mombasa and was made up of the Cameronia and Nigerstroom escorted by HMS Danae and HMS Teviot.
This convoy arrived at Kilindini / Mombasa on 13 February 1944. Nigerstroom continued on to Beira (Mozambique) where she arrived on 15 February 1944.
The convoy, now made up of the Cameronia only departed again the following day still escorted by HMS Danae and HMS Teviot.
The convoy arrived at Durban on 19 February 1944.

This convoy departed Port Said at 1600C on 15 April 1944.
On departure from Port Said the convoy was made up of the following (troop) transports; Alcantara (British, 22209 GRT, built 1922), Ascania (British, 14013 GRT, built 1924), Batory (Polish, 14287 GRT, built 1936), Empire Pride (British, 9248 GRT, built 1941), Sobieski (Polish, 11030 GRT, built 1939) and Winchester Castle (British, 20012 GRT, built 1930).
On departure from Port Said the convoy was escorted by the escort destroyers HMS Calpe (Lt.Cdr. A.T. Morgan, RNVR), HMS Atherstone (Lt. E.I. Pilditch, DSC, RN) and HMS Haydon (Lt. R.G.R. Clay, RN).
At 0945C/16, the following (troop) transports joined coming from Alexandria; Circassia (British, 11136 GRT, built 1937), Derbyshire (British, 11660 GRT, built 1935), Princess Kathleen (British, 5875 GRT, built 1925) and Tegelberg (Dutch, 14150 GRT, built 1937).
The were escorted by the escort destroyers HMS Catterick (Lt. D.P. Willan, DSC, RN) and HMS Cleveland (Lt. J.K. Hamilton, RN) which also joined the convoy.
Around 1430C/17, the light cruiser HMS Danae (Capt. J.R.S. Haines, RN) joined the convoy coming from Tobruk.
Around 0130C/18, HMS Danae parted company with the convoy.
The convoy arrived at Taranto at 0700B on 20 April 1944. (32)

Gooseberry 5 was made up of nine scuttled ships; the merchant vessel Becheville (British, 4228 GRT, built 1924), French battleship Courbet, merchant vessel Dover Hill (British, 5815 GRT, built 1918), British light cruiser HMS Durban, merchant vessel Empire Defiance (British (former German), 4667 GRT, built 1909), merchant vessel Empire Tamar (British (former Italian), 6558 GRT, built 1907), merchant vessel Empire Tana (British, 6275 GRT, built 1922), merchant vessel Forbin (British (former French), 7291 GRT, built 1922) and the Dutch light cruiser HrMs Sumatra.
