12 Sep 2000 This is one of the best sites I have ever seen! Absolutely
fascinating. And I have to tell you how accurate you are -- my
father-in-law was aboard the USS Besugo, the submarine that torpedoed U-183 on 23/4/45 off Java. He said there was one survivor, the executive officer.
Sure enough, your database confirms that there was one survivor. However,
one book currently in print called, I believe, U-Boat Losses, says there were no survivors.
It would be very interesting to find out the name of that survivor, and whether he is still alive today. Maybe your site has that information! I am sure it will steer me in the right direction to research the question.
Again, my congratulations and admiration for uboat.net. Nick Merritt USA 14 May 2000 How do you get so much information?! Your site is the BEST for anything with
U-Boats. Thank you very much for all the time you have put into this amazing website. I hope you continue to update uboat.net in the future so that everyone can experience such a huge amount of great information. Craig Daste USA 5 Jun 2000 I visited your site today for the first time. I am very impressed the educational value of the site and how much information is presented. I have forwarded the address to some friends who are interested in war history. As an amateur U-boat enthusiast and I am glad this site is here for me.
Please continue your good work. Glen Davis Canada 15 Jul 1998 This page is fantastic. So much information and a great design. Jens-Peter Hahn Germany 19 Oct 1997 Just found your site AGAIN. I am surprised at the information you have and have spent the better part of the night (3 hours) on it. Please try to find some insignia for the boats if you can. Thanks. Dan Canada |
This is, of course, just a fraction of supportive letters uboat.net has received.
