| Shelled and abandoned by her crew. The attacking U-Boat had no time to scuttle the vessel as several destroyers were approaching very fast. Part of the crew were picked up by the destroyers, the remaining rowed to St. Mary’s. When finally disembarking in Penzance, they were advised that their vessel had been towed there and returned on board. During the action, Capt. Pepin had been fatally wounded by splinters while still on board.
