| Carring the false identity of Lammeroo, she was on passage from Malta to Mudros, carring 1,250 bags of mail, plus some victualling stores and two torpedoes, with an armed trawler escort. At 12.05 pm, when off Lithari Point light, in position 38.36N 24.55E, the track of a torpedo was seen approaching on the starboard side, but too late to take any avoiding action. The torpedo exploded between the engine room and boiler room, killing two ratings, and the ship sustained considerable underwater damage. She immediately started to settle and most of the crew were ordered to leave the ship, the captain and a small party intending to stay onboard. The ship however heeled over, and ten minutes after being hit, she sank, the trawler closing to pick men out of the water.
