On May 2nd 1917, Keryado was escorting the sailing ships Cancalais, La Victoire, Yvonne and Russie, when she was torpedoed by UC-72 (Oberleutnant zur See Ernst Voigt)and sank immediately, leaving only one survivor. UC-72 then proceeded to the sailing ships and sank the 4 of them with explosives or gunfire. All crew managed to reach Ile d´Yeu in their lifeboats.
