Notes
Amberger’s promotion to Kapitänleutnant on July 18, 1918 was almost certainly unintentionally posthumous. UB 108, with Amberger in command, sailed on July 2, 1918 from Ostend and did not return. The wrecks of several UBIII boats have been located off the Flanders coast in recent years and one of these should be UB 108, mined outbound.
