Schlott served as 2nd Watch Officer (II WO) on U-703 (Brünner) during 1943-44, mostly in Arctic and northern waters. After completing commander training he then commissioned the type XXIII Elektro U-boat Elektro boat U-2329 in Sep 1944.
Oblt. Heinrich Schlott became one of the youngest U-boat commanders to see active service in WWII when he left for patrol in U-2329 from Stavanger, Norway on 11 April 1945. He was only 22 years old. He brought his boat back to Stavanger 16 days later.
After the war
Schlott liked Norway and often went on walking holidays there with his brothers after the war. He also studied philosophy and played the piano. He died in his home town at the age of 74 (information from his brother Hans Joachim).
