At 0710 hours, an enemy destroyer was sighted at a distance of 8,000 metres. She was probably one of the 2nd Flotilla sweeping the area.

At 1300 hours, a torpedo track was observed and missed Fisalia 150 metres astern. This was probably a porpoise as there were no other submarines on the area.

  12 Jul 19401427-155032° 09'N, 24° 23'EFrom 1427 hours to 1550 hours, Fisalia was hunted by an A/S craft and heard 40 depth charges. She escaped by going down to 80-90 meters, but was damaged and had to abort her mission.

At about 2130 hours, Fisalia was at anchor in Tobruk, when there was another air raid. She was near-missed by three bombs and dived. A fourth bomb exploded near her and when she surfaced at 0300 hours on the 14th, fourteen holes from bomb fragments were found in her hull.

While exercising with the submarine Adua and the torpedo-boat Audace, Fisalia detected a suspected submarine. This was confirmed by Adua. Audace remained behind to hunt for the submarine.

No allied submarine operated in the area.

This was the Città Di Bergamo (2,154 GRT, built 1914) on passage from Trieste to Barletta and Bari.

At 2200 hours, the corvette HMS Hyacinth attacked an ASDIC contact with depth charges. At the time, the assessment was made as "Slightly damaged". Later, this was revised as "sunk" when it was learnt that Fisalia had been lost in the area.

There were no survivors, C.C. Girolamo Acunto, four officers and forty-one ratings perished.
