Sank SameBy Mellor, William B., Jr.
Descripton: Tells the story of the U.S. volunteer coastal defense forces, the Civil Air Patrol and the Coast Guard Auxiliary, formed to counter U-boat attacks on U.S. coastal shipping in 1942 and 1943. Written while the war was still in progress, it contains some inaccuracies (for example, stating that more than 100 huge (3000 tons displacement) U-boats crossed the Atlantic to attack the Eastern shore in early 1942). Includes official U.S. Navy photos of U-boats being sunk. |
