History | Escaped to Alexandria in May 1941 and operated in the Mediterrean under British control. Katsonis, Lt. Laskos, had sailed from Alexandria on a special mission, she was tasked to land some special agents on the coast of Euboea, in the Aegean. On completion of this mission, she was under orders to conduct a short patrol off Nicaria then return to base. Shortly after 2000 hrs of 14 September 1943, she was sighted running surfaced at the northern entrance to Euboea Channel the German auxiliary patrol vessel UJ 2101, escorting a local convoy. |

Katsonis (Cdr. Spanidis) torpedoed and sank the Italian merchant Quinto (531 GRT) in the Adriatic Sea off Antivari.
2 Jul 1942
While undocking from a dry dock at Port Said, Egypt, Katsonis is damaged and sunk in the harbour. She is salvaged and underwent a long overhaul before being fit for service again.
2 Apr 1943
Katsonis (Cdr. Laskos) torpedoed and sank the Italian pilot boat F 77 / Tergeste (212 GRT) off Gytheio, Maratonisi, Greece. The boat, sunk in shallow water, was raised within a few days.
5 Apr 1943
Katsonis (Cdr. Laskos) torpedoed and sank the Spanish / German merchant San Isidro / Labrador (322 GRT) in the Aegean Sea off Kythnos Island, Greece.
29 May 1943
Katsonis (Cdr. Laskos) damaged the German merchant Rigel (552 GRT, former Spanish Tercio de Montejurra) with gunfire in the Aegean Sea near the island of Skiathos, Greece in position 39°12'N, 23°21'E.
2 Jun 1943
Fired 2 torpedoes at the Italian coaster Versilia (591 GRT), off Karlovassi, Aegean, missing her.
