Around 1700Q/11, the damaged light cruiser HMS Phoebe (Capt. C.P. Frend, RN) departed Key West for New York.
She is escorted by the minesweepers USS YMS-36 (Lt. L. de Boer, USNR) and the patrol vessels USS SC-682 (Lt.(jg) J. Gay, USNR) and USS SC-692 (Lt.(jg) E.P. Stafford, USNR).
On 13 January 1943, USS YMS-36 and USS SC-692 were relieved by USS SC-659 (Ens. R.W. Hahn, USNR).
On 14 January 1943 USS SC-659 parted company after having been relieved. [We have been unable to find out the identity of the vessel which relieved her.]
HMS Phoebe and her escort arrived at Gravesend Bay around 2030Q/15.
