Gerity, RCNR) together pick up survivors from the American tanker Pan New York that was torpedoed and damaged by German U-boat U-624 in the North Atlantic about 550 nautical miles west of Malin Head in position 54°58'N, 23°56'W. The corvettes sank the wrecked tanker with gunfire and depth charges.
