HMCS Rosthern (T/Lt. R.J.G. Johnson, RCNVR) and HMCS Summerside (T/Lt. F.O. Gerity, RCNR) together pick up survivors from the American tanker Pan New York that was torpedoed and damaged by German U-boat U-624 in the North Atlantic about 550 nautical miles west of Malin Head in position 54°58'N, 23°56'W. The corvettes sank the wrecked tanker with gunfire and depth charges.

Crick, DSC, RN), HMS Philante (Capt. A.J. Baker-Cresswell, DSO, RN), HMS Folkestone (Cdr.(Retd.) J.G.C. Gibson, OBE, RN), USS Spencer, USS Campbell and HMCS Rosthern (T/Lt. R.J.G. Johnson, RCNVR). Johnson, RCNVR) together pick up 32 survivors from the British merchant Manchester Merchant about 400 nautical miles east-south-east of Cape Race in position 45°10'N, 43°23'W.

HMCS Rosthern (T/Lt. R.J.G. Johnson, RCNVR) picks up 3 survivors from the British merchant Egyptian that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-230 south-south-east of Cape Farewell in position 56°25'N, 37°38'W.
