HMCS Nanaimo (T/Lt. T.J. Bellas, RCNR) picks up 86 survivors from the British merchant Port Nicholson that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-87 northeast of Cape Cod in position 42°11'N, 69°25'W.

13 Mar 1943
HMS L 23 (Lt. A.H.B. Anderson, DSC, RNR) departed St. John's for Philadelphia. She was escorted by HMCS Nanaimo (T/Lt. E.U. Jones, RCNVR). (1)

21 Feb 1945
HMCS Nanaimo (T/Lt. R.C. Eaton, RCNVR) ended a refit at Esquimalt.
