19 Aug 1944
USS Searaven (T/Cdr. M.H. Dry, USN) arrived at Midway from Pearl Harbour. She was then taken in hand for voyage repairs and repairs to no.1 engine, which was defective upon arrival, by USS Proteus (T/Capt. R.W. Berry, USN). (2)
6 Sep 1944
At 1215Y/6, USS Sailfish (T/Cdr. R.E.M. Ward, USN) ended her 11th war patrol at Midway. She was then taken in hand for a tender refit by USS Proteus (T/Capt. R.W. Berry, USN). During the refit she was also docked for some repairs to fittings underneath the waterline. Following refit a trial was carried out followed by two days of exercises. (3)
22 Sep 1944
USS Escolar (T/Cdr. W.J. Millican, USN) arrived at Midway. She then went alongside USS Proteus (T/Capt. C.N. Day, USN) for voyage repairs.
6 Oct 1944
At 0930Y/6, USS Searaven (T/Cdr. M.H. Dry, USN) ended her 12th war patrol at Midway. She was then taken in hand for a tender refit by USS Proteus (T/Capt. C.N. Day, USN). Following refit a 7 day training period was carried out before she was ready to proceed on her next, and last, war patrol. (2)
13 Feb 1945
Around 0445K/13, the submarine USS Spadefish (T/Cdr. G.W. Underwood, USN) made contact with USS Roe (T/Cdr. J.P. Craft, Jr., USN) which was to escort her to Guam.
Around 0630K/13, the submarine USS Devilfish (T/Cdr. E.C. Stephan, USN) also joined and course was then set for Apra Harbour, Guam.
They arrived at Guam between 1000K/13 and 1030K/13 thus ending the 1st war patrol of USS Devilfish and the 3rd war patrol off USS Spadefish.
At Guam, USS Devilfish and USS Spadefish were both taken in hand for repairs by the submarine tender USS Proteus (T/Capt. C.N. Day, USN).
3 May 1945
USS Crevalle (Cdr. E.H. Steinmetz, USN) ended her 6th war patrol at Guam. She was escorted in by USS SC-1069 (Lt.(jg). C.M. Janicki, USNR). At Guam she was refitted by USS Proteus.
10 Jun 1945
At 0830K/10, USS Dragonet (T/Cdr. J.H. Lewis, USN) ended her 2nd war patrol at Guam. She had been met at 0519K/10 by USS Doherty (Lt.Cdr. W.J. O'Brien, USNR) which then escorted her in.
USS Dragonet was then taken in hand for a tender refit by the submarine tender USS Proteus (T/Capt. C.N. Day, USN). The tender refit was completed on 25 June 194 and USS Dragonet commenced an eight day training programme of Guam.
12 Jul 1945
At 0521K/12, USS Hackleback (T/Lt.Cdr. F.E. Janney, USN) made rendezvous with her escort, USS SC-671 (Lt.(jg) J.R. Paulson, USNR).
They arrived at Guam around 1000K/12, ended her 2nd war patrol at Guam. USS Hackleback was then taken in hand for a normal tender refit by USS Proteus (T/Capt. C.N. Day, USN). The tender refit was completed at 4 August which included a week extension for the fitting of ST radar.
Training off Guam was conducted from 6 to 11 August.
