HMS H 43 (Lt. F.D.G. Challis, DSC, RN) conducted A/S exercises off Lough Foyle with HMCS Assiniboine (A/Lt.Cdr. J.H. Stubbs, RCN), HMCS Fennel (T/Lt. J.M. Gillison, RCNR), HMS Dianthus (Lt.Cdr.(Retd.) C.E. Bridgman, RNR), HMCS Brandon (T/Lt. J.C. Littler, RCNR) and HMS Winchelsea (Lt.Cdr. G.W. Gregorie, RNR). (1)

28 Jul 1942
HMCS Brandon (Lt. J.C. Littler, RCNR) picks up 45 men of the British merchant Broompark that was torpedoed and damaged on 25 July 1942 by German U-boat U-552 east of Newfoundland, Canada in position 49°02'N, 40°26'W.

The Broompark finally sank at 0600 hours on 28 July 1942 while under tow of the USN tug USS Cherokee in position 47°41'N, 51°50'W.

HMS Satyr (Lt. T.S. Weston, RN) conducted A/S exercises in the Clyde area with HMS Philante (Capt. A.J. Baker-Cresswell, DSO, RN). Upon completion of these HMS Satyr departed the Clyde for Londonderry, being escorted by HMCS Brandon (T/Lt. H.E. McArthur, RCNVR). (4)
