HMCS Brandon (Lt. J.C. Littler, RCNR) picks up 45 men of the British merchant Broompark that was torpedoed and damaged on 25 July 1942 by German U-boat U-552 east of Newfoundland, Canada in position 49°02'N, 40°26'W.
The Broompark finally sank at 0600 hours on 28 July 1942 while under tow of the USN tug USS Cherokee in position 47°41'N, 51°50'W.
