History | Loaned to the Canadian Navy upon completion as HMCS Warrior. Decommissioned by the Royal Canadian Navy on 23 March 1948 and returned to the Royal Navy. Commissioned by the Royal Navy in November 1948 and mainly used as a trials carrier. Decommissioned to reserve in September 1949 but recommissioned in June 1950 for service as a troop transport to Korea. Refitted at Devonport Dockyard from March 1952 until 8 September 1953. Refitted further from 14 December 1954 until 21 August 1956. Decommissioned in February 1958. Sold to Argentina on 4 July 1958. Commissioned into the Argentine Navy on 8 July 1959 as Independencia. Decommissioned into reserve 1970. Sold to be broken up for scrap on 17 March 1971. |
