HMS Ebor Wyke (T/A/Skipper T.E. Olgeirsson, RNR) picks up 49 survivors from the British passenger ship Rotorua that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-96 about 110 miles north-west of St. Kilda in position 58°56'N, 11°20'W.
30 Sep 1944
During exercises off Dundee, HMS Trusty (Lt. L.E. Herrick, DSO, RN), serves as target ship for HMS Viking (Lt. R. Bannar-Martin, DSC, RN).
Later Trusty and Viking departed from Dundee for Scapa Flow and Lerwick respectively. They were escorted by HMS Ebor Wyke (T/A/Ch.Skr. H.A. Jensen, DSC, RNR) (1)
