History

On 4 May 1944 HMS Elgin was damaged 9 miles east of Portland in position 50º28'N, 02º11'W when an acoustic mine exploded off her stern. The ship was towed to Portsmouth but was deemed not worth repairing. Reduced to reserve on 1 August 1944.

Sold 20 March 1945.
