HMS Loch Monteith (Lt.Cdr. F.R. Pope, RNR) picks up 62 survivors from the British merchant Chagres that was sunk after hitting a mine laid on 6 January 1940 by German U-boat U-30 5.5 nautical miles bearing 270° from the Bar Light Vessel off Liverpool in approximate position 53°33'N, 03°25'W.

15 Mar 1941
HMS H 50 (Lt. P.R.H. Harrison, DSC, RN) conducted exercises off Tobermory with HMS Amaranthus (Lt. N.B.J. Stapleton, RNR) and HMS Loch Monteith (T/Lt. K.W. Richardson, RNR).

Upon completion of these exercises HMS H 50 departed the Tobermory area for Rothesay escorted by HMS Lady Hogarth (T/Lt. S.G. Barnes, RNR).

E.J.D. Turner, DSC, RN) was also in company during the passage north as she was to proceed to Lerwick.

Escort was taken over at 0800/16 by HMS Loch Monteith (T/Lt. K.W. Richardson, RNR). During passage south along the Scottish east coast HMS Sturgeon (Lt.Cdr. M.R.G. Wingfield, RN) was also in company. (18)

With her refit completed, HMS Tuna (Lt. R.P. Raikes, RN), departed from Blyth for Holy Loch to start the work-up period for her 2nd commission. She made the passage together with HMS Sealion (Lt. D.
